Morrinsville WasteWater Condition Assessment, Analysis & I/I Program. 9.5km 5 Catchments.

2009

Client: Matamata Piako District Council.
 

Project managed smoke testing, cleaning and CCTV investigations of sewers in the CBD and surrounding residential areas. Conduct sewer condition analysis of CCTV data. Prepare schedules, program maintenance works and identifying capital works for tender.

Client:  Hamilton City Council. Water & Waste Services.    

Reviewing resource consent applications, designs, drafting consent conditions, and liasing with council departments on infrastructure issues. Contracted for a 22 week period.

2007
Client:  Waikato River Municipal Users Group. WRMUG  

Legal counsel headed by Simon Berry Barrister Environmental Law on behalf of WRMUG (Taupo DC, Waipa DC, HCC, Waikato DC, Water Care) presenting legal submissions and evidence to the EW hearings committee. ACD’s role was to provide coverage of the proceedings to capture evidence and report on the hearing proceedings. Late in the hearing, this coverage was a valuable resource used to present WRMUG’s closing submission. 8 week period.
Project complexities: The interests of the different stakeholders in the Users Group. 

 

Avenue Road South Urban Upgrade, Morrinsville. 160m

2007

Client:  Matamata Piako District Council
Estimated contract value   $150,000 

Professional services to scope, survey, design and prepare contract documentation for the upgrade of a local road in a commercial area. Comprising channelisation, road widening, drainage system review and recommendations, lighting upgrade and services relocation. Subdivision in the area placed pressure for improvements.
Project complexities: Commercial development, state highway and utility operators.

 

Piakonui Road Culvert Replacement
2007
Client:  Matamata Piako District Council
Contract value  $140,000 

Professional services involving catchment evaluation, survey, design and preparing contract documentation for the replacement of a partially collapsed Armco culvert. Replaced with a 1.35m diameter Concrete pipe addressing capacity, flooding, maintenance and farm operation issues.

State Highway 2 and Campbell Road Stock Underpasses
2007
Client:  Kaimai Valley Services
Contract value  $260,000 

Consulting to a contractor to provide professional services for the design and administration of two separate stock underpasses in the Waihi Area. One located on the local road network with the other on Transit operated roads.

2002-2007 RAMM Data Processing

Contracted to the District Council to review, coordinate, comply, collating and formatting RAMM data from the district’s road maintenance programme from July 2002 to June 2007. Data presented for inclusion in Council’s RAMM database.  Contract period 13 weeks.

Contracted to the District Council on resource consent matters for a period of 10 weeks. Reviewing applications, site inspections, and liasing with council departments on infrastructure issues.

Consulting to the City Council over resource consent matters for a period of 9 weeks. Reviewing and processing applications, and providing arbitration services.

Matamata Water Reticulation Upgrades and Renewals. 16.3km.

Client: Matamata Piako District Council.
Estimated contract value $3,857,000

Investigation, design and preparation of contract documents for the LTCCP water reticulation renewals and upgrades. 32 contracts in total. The main objective of this project has been to improve water pressure and quality of service by replacing and upgrading the network within the Matamata Township.
Project complexities: Budget and network development.

 

Bankart Street Urban Upgrade. 720m.

2005
Employer: Waikato District Council
Contract value $2,066,000

Designed, tender preparation and project managed up to stage 3 safety audit, as part of the ‘Raglan CBD Strategic Roading Programme’. The project involved a roading and utility upgrade of urban roads around the Central Business District in Raglan and re-defines the road function and hierarchy improving traffic management. Three intersections, two of which have been upgraded to roundabouts.
Project complexities: Community consultation, construction during the peak summer business period, planning, development and Budget.

Bankart Street Project



Box Culvert Replacement Programme.
2005
Employer: Waikato District Council
Contract value $430,000

Scoped, design, tender preparation and project managed up to contract supervision. The project involves the widening of Seddon road and highway 22 single lane bridges with box culvert structures. Catchment evaluation, culvert sizing and road improvement works with resource consent applications approved.
Project complexities: Rapidly rising water levels, erosion control and traffic.



Raglan CBD Stormwater Strategy. 1.4km
2004
Employer: Waikato District Council

Estimates contract value $700,000

Scope and evaluation of the existing stormwater network and the recommendations to improved the quality of the runoff into the harbour.
Project complexities: Resource consents, budgets, community and council culture.



Rangiriri Township Waste Water Upgrade 2.1km
2004
Employer: Waikato District Council
Estimate contract value $660,000

Scoped and designed the gravity wastewater system as part of a central government grant application, which has been approved. The Township’s growth has been limited to 28 sections due to environmental issues arising from the concentration of septic tanks. The upgrade will allow development up to 100 section.
Project complexities: Providing Prevision for future development. Pumping station and rising main.

Contract value $192,000

Scoped, designed, tender preparation and project managed up to contract supervision. The project involved an urban infrastructure upgrade.
Project complexities: Stormwater disposal.

Surveyed, designed, tender preparation and project managed up to contract supervision. Three separate large diameter culvert crossings requiring replacement structures.

Designed, tender preparation and contract supervision as part of the ‘Raglan CBD Strategic Roading Programme’. The project involved a roading and utility upgrade of an urban road close to the central business district, which forms part of the roading strategic upgrade work for Raglan.
Project complexities: Resource consents required. Stormwater Discharge to an existing wetland area. Community input and environmental engineering.

Raglan CBD Strategic Roading Programme 3.35km
2003.
Employer: Waikato District Council
Budget costs $ 7,750,000

As a result of the Raglan Traffic Study, this project focused on the Central Business District, with the objectives of providing a strategic roading plan for upgrade works. The programme extends over a number of years the timing depending on budget constraints.
Project complexities: Political agendas, LTCCP, Annual Plan, Needs and aspirations of the community.

The aim of the study was to review the existing road hierarchy and investigate the issues surround the community’s sentiments, identify weaknesses and make recommendations for improvement.

Matangi Footbridge. 30m.

Employer: Waikato District Council
Contract value $120,000

Contract supervision of a structural steel and timber deck pedestrian and cycle bridge. Span totalling 30m, width 2.5m.

Project complexities: Foundation design, site restrictions.

Overseas Experience.

Prior to working in New Zealand Richard has sent six years in the UK development industry, with the main focus on urban road design, storm and wastewater infrastructure and utilities relating to the residential market. Site complexities varied from

  1. Stormwater attenuation.

  2. Demolition and recycling materials.

  3. Tree preservation and badger protection orders.

  4. Dealing with contaminated land and contaminates from materials during demolition.

  5. Traffic impacted assessment.

  6. Landslips.

  7. Foot and Mouth Epidemic control.

  8. Saxon Archaeological site.

  9. On-site public wastewater treatment and pumping stations.
